The “Odyssey” From Antiquity to the Modern Age – An Event on Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” in Collaboration with the “Central im Bürgerbräu” Cinema

In 2026, the “Odyssey”, one of the oldest epics in world literature, is newly adapted for the big screen. What is the epic poem about? Three researchers provide insights into the ancient poem, focusing on three characters: Odysseus (17 July, 5 p.m.), Penelope (27 July, 5 p.m.), and Circe (4 August, 4.45 p.m.). After the film, we will discuss the adaptation with you. We are looking forward to sharing impressions and thoughts!

More information on the event may be found here. You may soon book a film ticket via the cinema website.

A cooperation of the Institute of Classical Philology, the Junior Research Group “Sustainability in Translation”, and the “Central im Bürgerbräu” Cinema.
